Mangoes are a high alkaline fruit with numerous beauty and health benefits. Mangoes are low in fat, rich in fiber, amino acids, potassium, pectin, iron, vitamin A, vitamin b6, vitamin C and vitamin E; mangoes are good for your eyes, digestion, sex drive, cholesterol, skin, concentration. Mangoes are also noted as a preventative for cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Believe-it-or-not, although mangoes are so sweet with "good sugar", yet there are only 15 grams of carbs in a 1/2 cup of mango. This means that a 4 ounce glass of this mango-kale smoothie makes for a great sweet treat for diabetics. This mango kale smoothie is a healthy treat when trying to lose weight and kids love it. My toddler drinks an 8 ounce cup of it.
MANGO KALE SMOOTHIE RECIPE
1 mango (skinless)
2 cups kale (curly chopped)
1 medium banana (frozen)
1 1/2 cups pineapple
1/4 cup orange juice (you can replace this with water)
BTW, mango mono meals are awesome for vegans, vegetarians or anyone that needs to gain weight because mangoes are higher in calories, so eating a lot at one time for one meal a day can help someone sustain or gain weight.
On the other hand, mangoes are good in moderation for people trying to lose weight because of the nutritional benefits as well as super sweet distinct taste. Just make sure they are in season!
Don't forget to check out the health benefits of kale and this other delicious green smoothie recipe that your kids will love, too!
Enjoy!
